Hey Bono fans, hang in there while we take a moment to make an important distinction here: Apple released two types of U2 IPODS, and the batteries (and procedures used to replace them) are completely different between the two versions.
The first U2 IPOD has a black front, silver back, red ScrollWheel, and a 20GB hard drive. This unit can play music, but has a monochrome screen so it cannot display color photographs of video. To get a sense of how the battery is replaced in this first version of the U2 IPOD, watch this video of 4th Generation IPOD, which is exactly the same except for the white front face.

"I have a 4th Generation U2 IPOD that was having battery issues. And Apple wanted waaaaay too much to replace it with the same 600 mAh hour battery($85.00!!). I didn't know what to do.
