The battery in my 3 year old iPod mini started to go weak and I had to charge it all the time. Normally if you need a new battery you send it to Apple. In the return mail you get a similar player with a new battery. The player is not the same, rather a serviced unit, so you have to store the music again. Everybody is not happy about the thought that it’s not the same original player plus the battery change costs 69-99 Euros. On the internet you can find several options. One of the best is www.ipodjuice.com. They deliver batteries and the required tools for the battery change. On the company web page you can find clear videos about how to do the change. All batteries have a 10 year warranty. They have batteries of different capacities. They say that the most powerful lasts two times longer than the original. It is easy to make the decision when the price is $36 equal to 23€ and the special offer included free shipping. After about 2 weeks I received an envelope with a new battery and all necessary tools. Clear instruction leaflet with figures tells you exactly how to replace the battery. You can also look at the instruction videos on the internet. They also offer iPod and iPhone repair.

It is not difficult to dismantle the iPod, but you have to know how to do it. The kit also included a plastic sharp edged tool that opens the plastic covers on both ends of the iPod mini. The operation seemed much easier on the video than in real life. The plastic covers did not come out as easily as on the video but after some effort and sweat I managed to get them off. Also included was a small screwdriver that opened a few screws. And after a short moment the main unit came out of its cover. To change the battery was easy. In the end the most difficult part was to put the main unit back into its cover. Anyway everything went well and after a little bit more than 15min the player had a new battery. After a few cycles the new battery proved to work much longer than the original one. You can most probably find just the battery cheaper than this, but in this package you receive all the necessary tools and very clear manual. They make the work much easier. In this case it was proved that it’s not always wise to buy a new player even though you are often tempted to do so.
