MacBook Air Battery Replacement Products – In Development!
Yes, that MacBook Air just came out, so who in their right mind wants to know how to replace the battery inside one of them? Well, lots of people, actually, including ourselves! So we just had to pop a few of them open to see how hard it is to replace a MacBook Air battery and we were pleasantly surprised at how simple the process can be, if you know what you are doing.
The one thing you cannot help but notice is the sheer number of screws you will have to remove to access the MacBook Air battery – 10 surround the bottom plate and another 9 hold the stock battery in place. Fortunately, the battery is not soldered to the logic board like you find with iPod nano batteries and iPhone batteries, but it connects/dis-connects with a simple plug (thank you, Apple!).
The Mac Book Air battery is expected to have a five-hour life after a full charge, so we will have to see if we obtain that performance here in our offices. The battery itself is pretty big as far as Apple batteries are concerned, and clocks in at 5200 mAh. There does not appear to be a lot of extra room inside the case, so it is too early to say if we will be able to offer a battery that has more playtime than this original stock battery – but rest assured we are going to try and find a way!
