Answers for Your IPOD TOUCH Battery Questions

The IPOD TOUCH hasn’t been on the market very long, but we still get plenty of questions about it from customers. If you don’t find your question answered on this page, we likely haven’t heard it yet – feel free to contacting us and we will do our best to get it answered!

Why can’t I replace the battery in the IPOD TOUCH by myself?

The IPOD TOUCH, as with the CLASSIC and NANO 3 was pretty much made to close up and not be opened again. We don’t know why it was designed this way, but it was, and we’ve had to adjust to it. After using about three blue iOpener tools and a few damaged backplates, we realized that the IPOD TOUCH was not only a beast to open, but very delicate. However, we have now found a way to safely open them, but we have to use specialized tools that we can’t mass-market to our customers, and our staff has to be specially trained to become proficient in the tricks it takes to separate the two halves. The battery is also soldered in; this brings another complicated step into an exceeding complicated project! Unfortunately that means we can’t sell you a do-it-yourself kit for the IPOD TOUCH, you have to send it in to us and we will replace the battery within a few days after your device arrives and, after it passes rigorous testing, will ship it right back to you.
