I am having trouble getting my IPOD PHOTO open – can you offer any guidance beyond what's I read in your detailed instructions?
At times getting the IPOD PHOTO open can be somewhat of a challenge, even when you are working with the very best tool. Here is a tip to help you get the sharp edge of the blue iOpener tool in between the white top section of your IPOD and the silver bottom section: First of all remember to relax and take it slowly. Next, using one or both hands, push either long edge of the white top downward into the silver bottom. Doing this will usually cause the edge of the silver part to bulge out and create a small opening. Insert the sharp edge of the blue tool into this gap and gently pry the white top out of the silver bottom part. Here is a short video that shows how to do this:
I purchased your 1200 mAh battery for my IPOD PHOTO, but it seems too big to fit. What can I do?
Getting our thicker 1200 mAh battery to fit into your IPOD PHOTO takes a bit of extra effort, but it absolutely can be done – all it requires is taking off a small part of the blue foam padding from under the hard drive and it will fit in nicely. The padding is there to make the hard drive fit snugly inside the IPOD but, with the thicker 1200 mAh ipodjuice.com battery, you won’t have to worry about it being loose. If for any reason you are not comfortable doing this, consider purchasing our 900 mAh or 750 mAh battery for the IPOD PHOTO, which are more similar in size to the original battery, but will of course not have as much playtime as the more powerful 1200 mAh battery. You can view this short video to see how exactly this is done:
If you are still having a hard time getting it to fit, please contact us and we can send out a new thinner (but still longer-playtime) 900 mAh battery for your IPOD PHOTO, along with a paid return padded mailer so you can return the 1200 mAh battery. Once it arrives, we will credit your card the difference in price.
The hard drive became disconnected while I was installing my new battery in my IPOD PHOTO. How do I reconnect it?
The copper-colored ribbon cable that attaches the IPOD PHOTO logic board to the hard drive is taped down, but it can at times detach from the logic board. If this happens, remove and save the black tape (it can be re-applied later) from the ribbon cable so that the connector is visible. Next, look carefully at the logic board to find where the cable was connected – you will find a small lever where the ribbon will re-connect. Gently lift up on this lever (if it’s not already up) and re-connect the ribbon cable. Once the cable is re-inserted, close the lever to hold it in place.
While I was installing the new battery in my IPOD PHOTO, the ribbon cable that connects to the headphone jack and tethers both halves together came apart. How can I reattach it?
The white top part and silver bottom part of the IPOD PHOTO are connected to each other by a copper-colored ribbon cable. This cable controls the sound from the headphones, so if it become detached, you will not have any sound from the headphone port on the top of the player. Don’t worry though, as long as it is not ripped or torn, it’s quite easy to reattach the ribbon cable to the logic board. Here is a short video that illustrates how to reconnect the cable:
