The battery inside the first generation (2G) iPhone (4GB, 8GB, and 16GB) is soldered to the motherboard. The battery inside the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS is not soldered in, but is almost as hard to access and replace. It is for these reasons that we decided that it would not be in our customers’ best interest to offer a replacement kit (as much as we would have liked to!).
