Please Don’t Put That Battery in the Trash!

Now that you have purchased your replacement iPod battery from iPodjuice.com and installed it your iPod, please do not throw the old battery away!
Rechargeable batteries contain elements that are safe as long as the battery is being used, but that are poisonous when they are released into the environment. If you put them in your household trash they will either go into a landfill or be incinerated. If they go into a landfill, the poisons will eventually leach into the ground water and contaminate wells, lakes and rivers. If the batteries are incinerated, the poisons will be released into the air you breathe.
It’s easy to recycle your old battery. Battery manufacturers started the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC). It is a non-profit public service organization that serves the United States and Canada. Other countries may have similar programs.
RBRC accepts rechargeable batteries at no cost. It reclaims the steel and the other metals for re-use. RBRC collected 5.6 million pounds of rechargeable batteries in 2006.
RBRC partners with the retailers who sell products that use rechargeable batteries, such as Sears, Verizon, Office Depot and many others. Those retailers have drop-off boxes for your old batteries.
To find drop-off sites near you, visit the RBRC website
http://www.rbrc.org/call2recycle/
or call 1-800-BATTERY
RBRC accepts any rechargeable battery for recycling. The RBRC website has information on starting community programs, instructions for retailers who want to participate, and even a lesson on how batteries are powered, battery safety and recycling to use in classrooms.
If you mail your old battery to iPodjuice, we will dispose of it properly. Wrap it; put it in a padded envelope (you could use the one your new battery came in); include a printout of your order so we can let you know we received it; and mail it back to the return address on your mailing label.
